NASA describes plans for the Moon and Mars

To the Moon and Mars

As the uselessness of the shuttle becomes more and more apparent, it’s good to see that there is actual progress being made of the human return to the moon and future expeditions to Mars. This is a preview of the report that will be released by NASA in the next few weeks.

I found this on Digg and thought that it was quite interesting.

125 mile long Wi-fi signal

Defcon Wifi Shootout

Team PAD, the world record holders for the longest distance for an unamplified Wi-Fi link (55.1 miles at 30mw), defeated their own year old record at around 11:00 am on Saturday 30th July at the Defcon Wi-Fi Shootout. The team shot their signal a distance of 125 miles from outside Las Vegas, Nevada to a location near St. George, Utah, winning them a new record in the “unamplified” category at the shootout. This possibly qualifies them for a new Guiness record as well. I hope they get it because this is a real achievement. If only this was available to the public!

My Birthday, coming soon…

Mac Mini

My birthday is August 17th, as my friends would know and I finally persuaded my dad to allow me to get a Mac Mini for my birthday. I have just had enough of ‘WinBlows’ with its blue screen of death (and red screen of death due in Longhorn, though Longhorns new name is ‘Vista’) and errors and everything else that comes with Windows. The Mac Mini will run on OS X 10.4.2 ‘Tiger’ and will hopefully have the following specs:

  • 512 MB DDR333 SDRAM
  • 80GB Ultra ATA Drive
  • Wired Keyboard and the new Mighty Mouse
  • 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 Processor
  • ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB video memory
  • Combo Drive (CD-RW and DVD-ROM)
  • Internal Bluetooth and Airport Extreme Card

Although to a PC user it may seem like crap specs, it is more than enough to run OS X on, unlike windows which runs slowly on most machines and needs high specs (in the case of XP). I am dissapointed with the 32MB video RAM, but I’ll live. I literally cannot wait to get rid of Windows, it has been annoying me that bad!

Hello!

Hey people!
I’ve got access to a computer! Just wanted to say hello, my holiday is going great, although the weather has been a bit unpredictable, but the forecast said it should be near 30 degrees C next week. See you all soon, as I should be able to make a couple of posts during the next week or two.

I’m going on holiday!

Yay! School has finally ended, well for at least 5 weeks, not counting the work experience. I’m going to Hungary for the whole 5 weeks to visit relatives and chill out. If I have time I may make some posts from there, that is if I remember. But I have to get up at 4AM tomorrow as we’re going by car. It is a 2-day trip there. It will be really long….

Revolution Controller Design Ideas

Controller Front
Controller Back

This site has I think pretty much all of the Nintendo Revolution controller ideas that have been made so far. Even the Nintendo ON, though not as a video. I think some of them are quite cool, others stupid! Anyway, visit the site to have a look at them. I posted a picture of one of them above.

Bored? Try this game…

What a shot...

This is a pretty fun game, try it out for yourself. The bad thing is it takes a while to load the first time as it is a free version, and there is no score keeping, unless you pay for the elite version of course. I played a couple of times and my best score was 1975, as you can see above.

Apple ships 6.1 million iPods

iPod

Reporting its fiscal 2005 third quarter financial results on Wednesday, Apple announced that it shipped more than 6.1 million iPods during the quarter, topping all analyst estimates, which ranged from 4.8 million to 5.55 million. With today’s report of Apple shipping 6,155,000 iPods during the quarter—about 800,000 more than last quarter and 5.3 million more than a year ago—the total number of iPods sold now stands at over 20 million.
During its second quarter conference call with press and analysts, Apple said that all iPod models made up 75 percent of the entire overall MP3 player market in the month of May. The company also said that the iTunes Music Store now has an 80 percent share of the worldwide digital music business.
I think that is truly amazing, don’t you. The iPod is a great product, mine performs well and is fantastic! No wonder so many people have bought it.

The banned PS2 advert you never saw!

Advert Screenshot

This PS2 advert was originally aired in France, but later got banned because of the obvious misconception. If you want to see it right click the link below and download it. I think it is pretty funny. I wonder if anyone ever saw the actual advert air…
