Xbox 360 shortage acknowledged for the UK

In a recent interview that OXM had with Peter Moore, the Xbox 360’s worldwide head of marketing, acknowledged the statement of the shortage of the 360 in the US, and went on to say that it will most likely be the same for the UK.
Certainly here in the US a lot of retailers have held inventory back to go on shelves, so that people can line up and have a chance of getting one. In Europe I believe it’s the same situation. Retailers want that buzz, they want people to line up and have the chance to get a console. But it’s hard. It’s good news/bad news. The good news is that Xbox 360 is a very desirable product, the bad news is that it’s not like baking bread. It has 1700 parts, we have to make them, pack them, and ship them. We’re trying to get everyone satisfied as quickly as we can but demand is huge.
I’m not sure I can guarantee that everyone will get one by Christmas. What we have done is encourage retail to keep a balance between pre-orders and first-come-first-served sales, both in North America and in Europe. On our part, our goal is to make as many as we can. We’ve got two factories working 24 hours a day.
So you can conclude that there will be shortages and that it will probably last a long while, just like the PSP shortage here in the UK (which has been going on for nearly 3 months).

Well, whilst i understand that its release day, you would of thought that judging by the pre-orders they would have had more available here in the UK. IMHO I thinks MS have done it so than can create hysteria. However i cant wait to see whats going happen when the PS3 comes out. Today i witnessed people being pushed down esclators literatly kicked to the ground, threating, verbal abuse, and violence to the extent that the police had to be called 3 times. I also saw a guy buy a core system for £208 and sell it to the man next to him for £400 Cash!!!! I saw people trying bribe shop staff with £100 to open the doors of shops early, Banging on doors, spitting and a hole host of other shit. I did not get one though, I suppose I am not prepared to go to the extent of the above over a console especially when i have a killer PC at home. Anyways good luck everybody on your 360 hunt, but remember post christmas it will be over hopefully the luanch games will fill the bargin Bins and everybody who wants one will hopefully have one.
just like to say that im a big fan of MS, i think they did the right thing in entering 3 major markets at once, but maybe they should have released the premium pack, & then after christmas rush bring out the core version. The one thing which for me makes the XBOX 360 better than the ps3 is the game developers will find it easier to program games on the XBOX 360
