Firefox bug hogs CPU usage in Mac OS X
Published December 1st, 2005 in Apple, Internet, Technology
This bug is not new, and that is exactly why I amposting about it. It has apparently been in Firefox for 3 years (has Firefox been ‘alive’ for that long) and still isn’t fixed. Inside Firefox when you click and hold anywhere in the GUIĀ it makes the CPU usages of Firefox rocket sky high.
The Firefox CPU usage shoots up to nearly 100% and hogs your entire system until you let go. I just tested it using top and can verify that the CPU usage jumps to between 75-95% depending on the other applications in use at the time. For Powerbook or iBook users this is a major issue, considering your fans will probably turn on and you’ll battery will drain much quicker.
I am surprised that Mozilla haven’t yet fixed it. How long will it take before they stamp the nail down on this one?
