Xbox 360 mod chips are nearly here
Published December 27th, 2005 in Gaming, Microsoft, TechnologyAccording to cdrinfo.com, a mod chip for the Xbox 360 is likely to show up “within weeks.” They go on to say that a “member of a hacker group” implied that they will be done making the first mod chip in a couple of weeks.
“Everyone of us is endeavoring to develop a mod chip with complete functions. With the chip, gamers will access all functions of Xbox360. We think the chip will be available at market in a couple of weeks. But as the first attempt, the first batch of chips may be complex and they may not function very well.“
This should probably scare Microsoft. I can’t believe that they have already cracked the 360 when it has been out for only a month. They sure work fast. But as it states, it will probably require a lot of hardware modding to get it to do something, but at least they have made some progress. I am all for this as I would like to see Macs be able to stream music and videos to the 360. It is possible, Microsoft just won’t allow it on purpose and is trying not to let anyone do it.
