For just you and a mate in the same room, just follow the game instructions. For online, you need a WiFi enabled game, access to a wireless interent point and broadband. Set up your wireless hub or whatever, then on the DS game there is a WiFi settings option somewhere in the main menu, follow the instructions to set up the connection, then go back to the main menu and touch "Ninetndo WFC" or whatever it is. It will then connect and you play people that are found for you or friends depending on the game. But bottom line, you need a WiFi online game like Mario Kart or Metroid, a wireless point (i recommend the Nintendo WiFi USB connector, it is very easy to set up) and broadband. Thats all you need.
